The foundation of Çumra Şeker Integrated Facilities(Çumra Şeker Integrated Facilities (Çumra Şeker Entegre Tesisleri)), whose establishment had been licensed by 02.07.1999 dated and 99/13098 numbered decision of Council of Ministers’,was laid on 27 September 2003.
The production capacity of The Plant, established in Çumra district on an approximate space of 2.600.000 m2 on 5th degree agricultural land, is 14.000 tons/day. Çumra Şeker Integrated Facilities (Çumra Şeker Entegre Tesisleri) were opened up on 24 September 2004 by the participation of senior ministers and top officials and our citizens over 50 thousand, Esteemed Prime Minister being in the first place; being completed in a short time about 1 year as a result of the extraordinary efforts, works, solidarity and performances of the producers, directors and employees of Konya Şeker.
Whole machinery and equipments of Çumra Şeker Integrated Facilities (Çumra Şeker Entegre Tesisleri), established in Çumra, which is one of the places where the highest quality beets are grown in terms of climatic conformity and in Turkey, the sugar beet paradise, have the newest technology and automation system of Europe.
The properties and initials of Çumra Şeker Integrated Facilities (Çumra Şeker Entegre Tesisleri); - The facility, whose nominal beet processing capacity is 14.000 tons/day, is the plant having the largest production capacity of Turkey.
- It is the first and unique sugar plant, put into practice by the own equity capital of beet producers,whose construction was completed in one calendar year in the world.
- It is the most modern plant in the world, where the state-of-the-art technology used in the production of beet sugar is applied. The facility is conducted by the computerized automation system through receiving information from 10 thousand points.
- It is the unique sugar plant of the world, supplying its raw materials from a space having a radius of 20 km.
- It is the unique facility, receiving the beet into the plant by dry system and being able to produce 2 thousand tons of sugar per day.
- The facility is the unique sugar plant having the most modern fluidised bed boiler, which minimizes the energy costs.
- It is the first facility of Turkey, making liquid sugar of sugar beet.
- It is the unique and the most ecologist plant of the sector in terms of ecologism values, producing 4,5 millions of sapling per year.
- It is the unique sugar plant having the most modern waste water treatment plant.
- Thanks to its automatical moisture and temperature control of 80.000 tons, it is the first and unique sugar plant having 2 vertical sugar silos which will be able to secure the product quality for a long time.
- In this plant, the technology regarding sugar sector was purchased in original and in lowest cost no matter which country it was developed. In summary, a world mix facility was established under best conditions out of the best ones.
Çumra Şeker Integrated Facilities (Çumra Şeker Entegre Tesisleri), having an investment cost of $ 340 million in total together with Sugar Plant, Liquid Sugar Facility and its additional facilities producing other sugar products and Bioethanol Plant, is able to produce 221.00 tons of crystal sugar, 10.000 tons of cube sugar, 140.000 tons of liquid sugar, 2.000 tons of chocolate, 2.160 tons of Hard Candy 84 million litres of bioethanol, 50.000 tons of molasses and 360.000 tons of mixed feed. Our Çumra Sugar Factory received the certificates of ISO 9001 - 2000 (Quality Management System) and ISO - 22000 Food Safety System received from TÜV NORD, TÜV Teknik Kontrol ve Belgelendirme A.Ş. on 16.03.2006.
The contributions made by Çumra Şeker Integrated Facilities (Çumra Şeker Entegre Tesisleri) to the economy of the region and Turkey are as follows:
1-The farmers of the region were provided with agricultural assistance,
2-Contributions were made to the education of our farmers,
3-The welfare levels of our farmers were enhanced through making their incomes increased,
4-Contributions were made to the development of livestock farming and fattening in the region thanks to the by-products which would be obtained,
5-Contribution was made to the prevention of rural-urban migration,
6-Contribution was made to the prevention of unemployment through creating employment area.
