Production Facility For Drip Irrigation System
While the arable lands of our country is approximately 30 million hectares and 8.5 million hectares of them have the property to apply irrigated farming on, irrigated farming is applied on about 5 million hectares. The biggest proportion in the consumption of water resources is used in agricultural irrigation by 72%. 88% of this use is disorderly irrigation. Flooding method reduces the productivity of the soil and increases the costs in land irrigarion. Flooding method leads the wells, rivers, dams, lakes to become empty, contamination of water, reduction in the productivity of the soil. The solution point of all these problems is drip irrigation. The reduction in rain falls with the effect of global warming, gradual reduction in underground and surface water resources by uncontrolled use of water, disorder in rain regime are the most significant indicators that we will face with a water crisis in the future. Unconscious irrigation constitutes a great risk for Konya region as well. Rapid reduction in underground waters, also drily lasting of seasons in Konya lowland create an additional risk element.
Therefore; drip irrigation should be urgently proceeded
- To ensure economic and conscious use of water in agricultural irrigation,
- To lower the costs of water, energy, fertilizers, pesticides and labour which take the most important place within the production costs,
- To enhance the product quality and productivity,
- To prevent desertification.
Drip irrigation; is a modern irrigation technique which irrigates the lands, greenhouses, gardens and fields after cleaning by filtering the clay, sand, seaweed and foreign matters in the water. This irrigation system enables the pesticides and fertilizers required by the plants and trees to be applied in drips in an economical and efficient way. This technique is applied by means of the tailor-made drip irrigation pipes.
Drip irrigation is an irrigation system, which ensures to apply water only into the root of the plant by using the drip nozzles at various flow rates over the main pipe and the lateral lines connected to it. With the drip irrigation system, the water required by the plant is ensured to be applied at the time and frequency required by the plant. Continuous supply of water diminishing from the root section constitutes the basis of this system.
Advantages of The System
• It enables a production without causing stress in the plant, by means of less water applications.
• Since it doesn’t create flowing and leakage at the surface, nutrient losses don’t occur in the water.
• It enables the irrigation with the waters having a high salt ratio.
• It prevents the growth of unwanted herbs.
• Since the fertilization and other applications are done together with irrigation, the cost declines while the productivity increases.
• The fact that this irrigation system minimizes the diseases up to eliminating them, allows to obtain quality and Standard products.
• By reason of the fact that the water and fertilizer are distributed to the plants equally, it facilitates the maturation at the same time and harvest in one batch.
• It prevents erosion and land losses.
* It allows for irrigation in low pressures as well.
• Since the irrigation is done in any areas, it enables the irrigation also in the areas where sufficient water possibilities are not available.
• It enables to obtain very significant savings from labour costs and time.
• It can be applied easily in inclined areas as well.
• It is the most economical system in agricultural irrigations.
One More Initial from Konya Şeker Has Emerged in Cihanbeyli:
FacilitiesofDrip Irrigation Systems
One of the vision holding projects of Konya Şeker, carefully following the developments and technology in the world in order to enhance the productivity in agricultural production, is the Facility of Drip Irrigation Systems as well. Our Cooperative, taking the encouraging of our partners to make irrigation by drip irrigation system as its duty; completed the works for the establishment of facilities of drip irrigation systems in Cihanbeyli region, having a total space of 18.000 m2, consisting of 4.750 m2 closed space and 13.250 m2 open space, high technology systems, which will have a yearly production capacity of 45 million meters of flat pipes, 18 million meters of round pipes, 3000 tons of spool pipes (sprinkling pipes) and the production was started on 01.11.2006. The facility took its place on the top thanks to the highest production capacity among Drip Irrigation Plants in Turkey. The investments were also maintained in the second year and the capacity of the facility was doubled, and the physical structure was raised up to 28.000 m2, consisting of 20.600 m2 open space, 8300 m2 closed space. The establishment purpose of this facility is that diminishing water resources cause the water level of Tuz Gölü to decline and the salinity ratio of lands increases. Facilities of Drip Irrigation Systems established as the best solution method against the drought emerged as a consequence of global warming and climate changes, directed the producers to make drip irrigation, leaded for more efficient use of diminishing water resources in our country, prevented the desertification and salinization of agricultural lands. It enabled the producers to irrigate the plants instead of the soil and above all, allowed the producers to get more products with low cost. Furthermore the opinions such as providing employment for the people of the region where it was established and being a model for the the farmers had an effect on the decision of investment. After the facility was established, a strong demand burst was experienced, and started to make production under full capacity. The Facility of Drip Irrigation Systems, caused a significant impact on market prices as from the time it started the production. Accordingly, the price of 1 meter of pipe, which was sold for 11 Ykr in the market in 2005, declined to 8 Ykr by the market-entry of the products of Konya Şeker Facility of Drip Irrigation Systems.
Konya Şeker, focusing on the enhancement of the welfare level of its farmers in all of its activities, is glad to take one further important step by The Facility of Drip Irrigation Systems under this purpose.
The production of 3 types of pipes is made by Facilities of Drip Irrigation Systems. These are:
1- Round drip irrigation pipe (with a diameter of 16 mm at various wall thicknesses )
2- Flat drip irrigation pipe (with a diameter of 16 mm at various wall thicknesses )
3- HDPE polyethylene spool-sprinkling pipe (at different diameters)
Since the production capacities of the machines in Turkey are more limited, it was deemed suitable to receive offers from the companies having the highest technology abroad due to both their technology and production capacity and the connections of all machines were given out by contract as a combination of Germany, Switzerland, Israel.
Flat drip irrigation pipes have been put into the service of Turkish farmers at a diameter of 16 mm, thicknesses of 8-10-12-16-18 miles with a dripping flow rate of 0.8-1.6-1.9 litres, drip distance of 20-30-40 cm per the place of use. Useful lifes are 1,3,5 years and more.
Panplast round drip irrigation pipes are produced in conformity with the world standards, as qualified, economical and long-lived. They are produced at the diameters of 16 and 20 mm, thicknesses of 0,7 mm, 0,9 mm, 1 mm and 1,2 mm as 4 l/h and 2 l/h in order to be used in all kinds of trees, plants and vegetables.
They are produced with the useful lifes of 1-3-5 years and more.
Panplast sprinkling pipes are made of HDPE (high density polyethylene) and produced economically and at world standards by using the state-of the-art extrusion technology which is qualified, resistant to pressure, long-lived, can be installed more rapidly for the purpose of finding solution for the irrigation problem of our farmers. Our pipes are produced at the diameters of 75-90-110-125-140-160 mmand the standard thicknesses fitting to them.
