The Project Breaking New Ground in Livestock Farming
The only chance of the producers against the negative conditions in Turkey is to act in concert and be organized. Collective production should be started through building common barns. For this purpose, Animal Nursery with a capacity of 500 animals was established in Çumra. The purpose here is to provide the healthy and balanced nutrition of our people, development of industrialism dependent on livestock farming, creation of employment in rural area, enhancement of productivity in agriculture, balances of foreign trade. Moreover, it has a vital importance for the reason that it is the most critical sector in joining EU.
Milk marketing network in Turkey has a complex structure. The fact that the intermediate chains are too many enhances the cost of milk. Bacteria quantity of this milk gathered reaches 100.000 pieces per 1 ml.
This chain requires to be removed in order for the consumers to consume quality milk, also the producers to produce the milk cheaply. Animal Nursery has become a highly technological, hygienic and a modern environment. Further milk will be received, production costs will decline, the milk will be sold more expensively since the intermediate chains are not available as well by cheap and quality feeding. Therefore, both the farmers and the consumers will get the better of this situation.
In Animal Nursery, feed quantity eaten by each animal and the milk quantity obtained will be able to be measured. In Nursery which will provide the service of nutionist and veterinary surgery in its body, the milk temperature and other disease factors will be measured by computer, recorded and controlled in each milking, health problems will be able to be solved on time by early diagnosis and cheaply according to the primary conditions. Furthermore, the rutting acts of the animals will be determined by an activity measuring device hung on their throats and the animal in rut will be fertilized by the method of artificial fertilization.
As a consequence; 30% of the factors enhancing the productivity in dairy cattle growing is the genetics of the animal, remaining 70% is maintenance and environmental conditions. In order to create these conditions, the establishment of Animal Nursery in the body of Çumpaş with the leadership of our Cooperative solved this highly important problem for our country, by bringing the producers together; both our consumers and therefore our country have got the better of this situation.
Capacity increase at Animal Nursery was stepped in 2006-2007 period and a total capacity of 500 animals as to consist of 250 milkers, 250 immature animals was added into the Project. So, a total capacity of 1000 animals was attained in project sum, consisting of 500 immature animals and 500 milkers.
The farmers, whose animals are present at the Nursery, can instantly access the data of the animals belonging to them via internet and see their accounts regarding their animals.
